Finally fixed my sloppy shifter today! I took it all apart, and it turned out there was no bushing whatsoever in there. No wonder it was slopping around so much! Luckily I found some plastic bushings in my dad's garage that fit perfectly. I found some brass bushings, so I will work on machining them for a more permanent fix in the future.
