We're here to help, but we're not your mother. Like Rod said: YOU REALLY SHOULD HAVE DONE AT LEAST SOME RESEARCH BEFORE JUMPING THE GUN.

If the kit is for all 4 corners, you should have 2 struts & 2 shock cartridges. You have to pull the cartridges from the front struts & put the new ones back in. And Tokicos are good shocks.... just because Blackie doesn't like the way they sit, doesn't mean they are no good. Black wanted his ride slammed closer to the ground than stock.

LOL.........the reason it seems loose is the exact same reason that every koni, bilstein, boge, kontrolle, and other shocks experience incorrect assumptions that the shock or shocks are bad..

If you put the shock right side up and cycle it through it's full travel, you will have pumped out the air that someone may have sucked up by moving the shock while either laying on it's side or upside down.

Once that is done, the shocks should dampen quite a bit and there will be more consistency between the shock in question and the others.

iluvJDM,
I have a low mile 82ZX & wasn't liking the softness of the oem suspension, esp the body roll & the rear end squat under accel. Bought the Tokiko HP set w/springs off ebay (prob from the same guy) for about the same price as you - put them in & the car dropped the advertized 1" & got very tight. I'd call them 'perfect'. Almost zero body roll, even doing doughnuts & stuff. Front & rear camber went a bit negative from the lowering, but the car overall still handles much better. Try what PooFlinginMonkey said about purging air & then esp if that one shock/strut gets better, try putting the kit on & see if you don't end up liking them like me. Good luck.

im running on the same Kit all the way around.. and i love the ride.. its just perfect.. theyre an improvement over stocks.. the rides a lot stiffer and more responsive.. and you wont get that dump in the rears like you do with the stocks when you take off... its a good kit... you wont be disapointed...

Stiffer does NOT mean better. And there is such thing as too stiff. ALL of the suspension compenents are meant to work together. Making the springs super stiff and not compensating other components is asking for trouble. I'll take a softer ride that handles really good over a super stiff spring thats going to toss traction around every turn cause the car can't stay on the ground. A stiff spring can get dangerous on the street. Too stiff and the wheels start coming off the ground which can cause you to lose control of the car. Not such a big deal on a super smooth race track. The Tokicos are not a race spring. They're a great compromise of comfort and handling for street cars. And too short of a spring can cause the shocks/struts to bottom. That's not a good thing.

The kit does look good on Your car icice..but only because your running 17 inch rims..with 14 inch wheels it would have so much unwanted wheel gap ...i do like it lower then most people ..not just for the low look but , it makes 0 to no body right now and that is what is best when slideing ...i think J is right on about to stiff ..if its to stiff then you dont drift lolololol....

I had 15's on mine and they look fine. The key is to get the wheel tire combination that fills the wheel gap properly.

You're just a slam machine!

Will 205/55R15 on a 15x8 wheel fill it in nice?

If you're runnin' 15x8 wheels, I'd go with 225/50/15's all the way around.

Hey there IcIce9, any chance you will disclose what that wing is on that great looking car? Looks like a whale tale only shorter.

Yeah I know i can run 225 but why when my car is underpowered? Do you know if the 205s stretched 8inches will cover wheel gap?

You can't get that ZXR replica wing anymore.. no. But you can get a 'mini' whale tale spoiler which looks very simular. Motorsport Auto sells them.

225 is not all that wide. Wider tires look better and give you more grip when cornering. Don't feel like you have to run narrow tires just because you have a stock 6-cyl. Modern cars with stock 4-cyl engines come with 205 or 215 right from the factory. Just put 225/50/15 on there!

I'll post some before and after pics of my car. I think that by the end of this week I'll have my suspension installed. ST springs, KYB rear struts, and 'some other brand' front struts.

Tokicos don't suck... they're a reputeable brand... you might want to bring it to a shop where someone can tell you whether you really have a defective product or not... or whether they're an imitation brand?

...or call Tokico (even MSA) for more info especially if you have a warranty.
