Cutting out problem

Hey, I have a few questions to ask concerning a problem I'm having.

Well, the car at any random moment, besides idle, decides to cut out, the tach just drops to zero and car sounds like it just shut off. I had the problem a while ago but just randomly went away. Now the question is what could be causing this? Vacume leak, CHTS, fuel filter, needs a tune up, **** wiring? I'm clueless.

My temp guage and my battery gauge both don't work either so this makes me wonder if I'm going to have to deal with a rats nest of wires. Thanks ahead of time, this car just refuses to run right when I want it to.

Sounds to me like the Flux Capacitor is acting up or maybe the Diffusalator Valve.

Honestly it could be almost anything electrical in the engine management section of the wiring if the engine is shutting off.

My thoughts are either the AFM or the Wiring. Really those seem to be the only thing that would just completely cause the car to shut off.

Really weird, today when I took off the oil cap while the car was running, it nearly died out untill I put the cap back on. Is that supposed to happen or what? My car still runs like shiiiiitttttt!

That's normal.

Does it run like sh*t all the time or does it usually run fine but intermittently just dies on you? Might want to have a look at the plugs on your ecu, make sure there isn't some corrosion going on.

Well both my non turbo cars would die all the way if you remove the oil cap on the valve cover. Check the dipstick also, if it is not sealed it will drive like crap too. If you have to, wrap something like electrical tape around the rubber part of the dipstick...the part that seals it in the tube...not too much, it still hast to go in the tube. clean it, dry it, wrap it...put back in car and see if that helps.

It does die intermittently so I'll take a look at the ecu connections and ground. Thanks.

I never even thought of that! Great idea and will do.

Hey, just an update.

Turns out the vacume line going from the TB to the head cover had a crack in it where it goes underneath the metal.

Now i just have to deal with this stupid cutting out problem!

I'm thinking it might be related to either your fuel pump or ignition. My thoughts are leaning towards the ignition because they can start acting really weird. Has the car done it much lately, and when it does has it been a muggy day, rainy, or dry?
