changing alternator on '70
i found a bolt on the bottom of the alternator that goes from back towards front of the car, then the tensioner bolt. are there anymore? both bolts are out and i can't get this thing to BUDGE. there are black widow webs everywhere.. so i thought better to ask here before feeling around.
help!
thanks.

if the tensioning bolt is loose and the mount bolt also slightly loosened it should just pivot.. otherwise take a hammer and a long piece of wood and just tap the alternator one way then just use it like a lever and pull it back to tension the belt and have sum1 tighten the bolts, or you can do it yourself and have fun trying to hold and tighten.. not very easy.. i would know

I just use a really long crowbar to wedge it taught and then tighten the bolts with my other hand. Works like a charm. And it's only the two bolts holding that thing in place kaj750. A hammer is your best friend here.

someone on another board said there was a bolt near the bottom that i gotta get from the front. i saw one.. didn't know if it was alternator. i remember it being in the right area but hard to get to because of the radiator..?
the top one is loose enough that the alternator is seperated from the adjuster bracket. i can't believe the bottom is stuck on there so good that hammering with a BIG flat head screw driver ( alternator is toast ) doesn't break it loose.
for SURE there is not a third bolt? thanks guys. JUST bought the car to drive to work while my main project is going..... and now it's broken down. so.. i have TWO cars that don't run very frusterating

there is a bolt in front if its and l28e motor... one on top one in the back bottom and one in the front bottom wage something inbetween the motor and the top of the alt , after you get the bolt out then push down.. it should free right up if you still have problems pull the radiator...let us know if you get it
