Why hood pins? the question is not meant to be taken in offense in anyway.

Does the hood still open towards the front of the car? If not, can you show us a pic of the hood opened?

Nice job Red! Your car just keeps looking better and better! By the way, I just bought another dizzy on e-bay. I asked the guy to test the vaccum advance, he got back to me, and said it worked fine. So I went over to my e-bay page, and bought it for $19.95 plus shipping! I can't wait in less than a month I will have my Z on the road! Yes! YES! yES!

Anyway is that black hood stock? Was your Z 2-tone like that? Or did you make it like that? I love 2-tone, it is a great scheme on a Z! My interior is almost finished, just waiting for my e-bay original black dashboard! Can't wait man!

On my car the front of the hood came down solid onto the top of the air dam. It looks like yours just rubbed in the center. Good work on the install.

Yes people, if you buy that air dam your hood will not open! You have to modify it. They don't tell you this on the phone or online. I suggest trimming the lip on the airdam back. The front will still look the same if you choose that method.

Red's hood is from an '83 and he did paint it black. Looks pretty good.

Yeah, I don't think I would have drilled holes in the hood I just spent 22 hours working on. Why didn't you just take a half inch off the back lip of the airdam?

Oh well, I actually welded the front lip of a 260Z hood onto my 280ZX hood to extend the front lip and close the gap between the hood and the stock bumper.

Now I don't need the crappy little rubber strip that runs the width of the hood and closes the gap between it and the bumper.

Came out great and follows the line of the headlight buckets perfectly!

Unfortunately, I decided to weld it on AFTER I had already painted the hood! Had to grind it down to bare metal, weld on the new lip, grind the weld smooth, re-primer and re-paint. Oh yeah, stripped the entire hood down to bare metal in the process.

Oh well, yours looks like it's coming along nicely.

Hey red, if your hood was lighter, like say CF, it would be alot easier to take that sucker on and off. Wouldn't you say (read: shameless plug)

wow, you could fit another engine in front of the radiator!
Looks nice in black. Even though I put many layers of spray paint on mine, it chips up pretty easily.

Dude... You really need to fix that rear wing! I think it's actually creating lift at that angle!

There will be wale tail there at some point i just have other stuff to do befor i spend
more money on side skirts and wing....... like spraying all the body some sick red color with metel flake and fixing a bit of rust in the back.......... springs and struts are also on the to do list along with putting in the rear bushing set S/C sent me and front bushing set that i need to order soon.i am going to the Pick and Pull this week end and pulling the ecu from the cars that are there i seem to be haveing a bit of a ECU problem and iam hoping one of these ECU'S will work better then mine . dam i still have a long way to go and alot of work ahead

do the years for ECU make a diff???? these to cars are 1980 stlye cars
It should just plug right in shouldnt IT...at that point i will have three ECU'S
IS THERE A WAY TO MOD ONE ..mabe i should take one apart to see what makes them tick

There were significant changes from '79 to '80 and '81 to '82/83.

You should definitely try to get one from your year.

There is no way to upgrade the stock ECU. Remember, you're talking about 1970's computer technology here. 8 bit computers running at sub 1 Mhz!

The only computer that is upgradeable is the '83 Turbo but it is very limited. Everyone recommends you upgrade to a 1st gen 300zx ECU which is more programmable, but if you're going to go to that much effort, I would opt for a standalone ECU like MSnS...
