Best engine, drive and suspension swap?
Best engine, drive and suspension swap?
Hi all, hope this isn't too old and boring for you, but being a 280zx virgin, and now about to start another a long term 280zx project, I would like to know the following please :
Best semi easy engine swap for lots of power, RB25DET or the likes?
Best manual transmission, keep skyline one??
Best suspension buys or swaps, bolt on preferable!
Brake swap
Hope you can help, as need to start looking now and get the collection started!
Wee picture of new project to follow soon.
Thanks and hope you can help with some suggestions.

Start here
For suspension upgrades, these guys have some nice stuff reasonably priced

As far as brake upgrades you can add 4 piston calipers, but you will need different wheels, the big brakes wont fit on stock wheels.
You can get a fully poly urethane bushings kit from Energy

Brakes
here is a link to the toyota conversion, and I found another brake conversion, so they are plentiful, and really nice.

After I get bigger wheels I plan on doing the bigger brakes.

Thanks PredatorZ, thats great for the brakes man, really appreciated indeed! Now I ned the best engine gearbox conversion and I'm almost there!
I do have the engine and box, loom and ECU from my rather expensive GTO twin turbo that I spent a small fortune on over the last 10 years, but now the car is to sad to drive! Would be a great conversion, but not sure how easy it would be!!
Thanks again, great to be here.

Fab skills
A conversion like that would be a one off and you would need custom motor mounts and most likely a custom drive line made to match your trans to the rear end. The L28ET is the easiest engine swap, and the most cost effective. I think the RB25DET conversions are more exotic, in the sense it looks cool and for such a small package makes big power, but it isn't cheap. And oddly enough, there always seems to be lots of used parts on Craigslist for these swaps.
Yes, that would be fantastic. I thought there may have been one already, but thought it was just me and my newbie status not finding it!!
Being over in the UK, parts are proving more difficult to find, especially manual gearboxes and turbo engines, unless I am missing another suitable doner car perhaps?? I am also looking for a little more power, hence the Skyline setup. Would like to find a write up of that conversion if there is one?
Thanks, Michael.
