What's the point though. Yes you can with all the harness and all relays etc that goes with the harness and ECU.

IIRC the turbo and NA have a different pinout. The simple answer is no.

You swap the guts... Shady280 and several others are running the turbo AFM with n/a guts. It's a must if you are going to do other intake upgrades (like the 60mm throttle body).

AFM Bypass ?

has any one tried to bypass the AFM? make the contacts that make the ECM think its getting more or less air without using the afm?

One word, Meagasquirt. If you havnt herd of it its a stand alone ECU. Sounds like the direction your heading.

The AFM is the EFI load sensor... every EFI system requires a load sensor of some form: AFM, MAF, MAP, A/F Distributor, etc.

Swapping to the Z31 ecu will change the AFM to MAF, which is more precise and less restrictive, or use a SAFC (Air Flow Converter) / VPC ) Vein Pressure Converter) to delete the MAF and use a MAP (more tunability options, but lots of headaches & problems).

As 77280ZX said, MS is programmed to use a MAP sensor, so that would be the best route.

If you are looking for little "tricks" to make your car faster, we've discussed many things, many times. A full tune up does wonders for a tired engine. Also, installing a potentiometer on the CHTS signal wire will "trick" the ecu into enriching the A/F mix (when set properly).

EDIT... research EFI systems (there are many books written on this topic). You can become expert very quickly.

yes i have swapped it to the turbo one. it requires a bit of time and the hardest part is plumbing believe it or not. its a gut swap for the electronics but im changing to megasquirt for obvious reasons. it really didnt make a noticable difference to performance either, maybe on a dyno but not worth the effort unless your bored
