'79 280zx high idle issues

Howdy Y'all, I thank you for any help I can get in advance. My Z is running 2k rpms @ idle. Late summer in Texas is hot and I had raw fuel smell and difficulty starting. Replaced battery, plugs, cables, rotor, pcv, air filter, oil change; no difference. Filled up with premium & added 1 bottle Gumout 2x. The engine began to run rough, stalling @ stops. Overnight with no interference on my behalf it started like a champ but will not come down from 2k rpm. I tested maf it seems fine as does the throttle switch. The throttle is filthy but I don't have the tools to remove it. EGR seems fine. I removed the air pressure valve and cleaned it but tore a vacuum line. I should note that when I bought it the vacuum lines were not all connected. I fixed that and then had the problems but not immediately. Now I burn 1 gal. for 9 mi. and have fuel smell when I shut off. Please help! I love this car.

check your fuel pressure she's running way rich. fpr maybe shot. or your cold start valve is open all the time. reconnect all your vacuum lines. vacuum leaks aren't liked by the s130 engine system. could be some other things but start there.

... You have come to the right resource group ... that is for sure.

If you want manuals and such ... you can go here (http://xenons130.com/reference.html) and down load them for your z.

I am not sure of your mechanical abilities ... but take it from the guy that had to google a dizzy only to find out the conversation was about a distributor.

Good Luck to you.

Also check the little filter that is in the fuel pump. If your tank is full of rust it could be getting clogged there.
