No the Z32 2 seater struts were too short, not too long. That is why I think they might fit the 2 + 2 280zx. Just a theory though. Need somebody with a 2 + 2 to try it out.

It's cool man, wasn't trying to belittle you. Hopefully somebody will try it out on their 2 + 2, and see if it will work.

All aside, I am glad that the ones I purchased worked great. And thanks for the information on those man. Appreciate it.

So find a Z32 2 seater in a bone yard. And see if the hatch supports will fit your 2 + 2. Then if so, feel free to post here.

No problem man, but ice gets the most credit. I just guessed on which ones I purchased, which were a direct fit. All aside, I like to help people out, when I can.

Yes part numbers are the crucial part. Hope you get those at Christmas. Good luck man.

Finding a Z32 2+0 in a bone yard is like trying to find a lambo or something in a boneyard lol If I ever get income tho I'll just buy a set

I'll try to measure the Z32 2 seater supports, when I get a chance. And I will post the measurements here. They are practically brand new. So Blue, go ahead and measure your hatch supports. And post them here. Then we can see if they will work.

I am going to play dumb here... When you guys, all through the forums keep mentioning the Z32... What are you talking about? Is this a model of ZX? or a different compatible car altogether?
I have been out of the ZX loop for 10 years and am trying to get back to knowing something.

BTW Thank you Wildman for the update and part# Thank you Ice for the previous info...you guys rock!

What's wrong with the $11 replacement from Rock Auto?

the stock replacement for the 280ZX hatch isn't strong enough to support a hatch with a wing on it... till one day when i had a z32 parts car and wanted to see if the rear hatch shocks would work on my car... they did and worked better than the stock replacements... not only did they support my heavy wing but it would spring up when you open it..

I tested whatever replacement one's came with the car and it lifts the hatch and a fair size wing I have.

Well I know I had fairly new 280zx hatch stuts. And they wouldn't hold the hatch, with my F-40 wing.

Anyway, does anybody still need me to measure the 300zx Z32 2 seater struts I have? I can do that, if somebody still wants to see if they will fit their 280zx 2 + 2.

If you have them right there I think it would be a good idea to add to the thread... So in the future if that info was needed by someone it will be here.

Will do, I will try and measure them within the next couple of days. And post here. And hopefully it can benefit somebody. I really love the upgrade. It is sweet, to pop the hatch, and it just lifts up on it's own. That's rockin'!
