280ZXT 60mm throttle body

who has done this mod? i've got a top cooled 240sx tb and i was wondering if u can swap the 280zxt tps on the 240sx tb and i was wondering if i could see some pics of how it looks when it's done cause there are alot of hoses that go to the stock tb... any help would be greatly appriciated! thanks

Do you happen to have the spacer for it? I've been wanting to upgrade to a 60mm, but I believe you need the spacer? I want to be able to still run the air regulator.

i thought you only needed the spacer if you didnt bore out the intake manifold

I'm not quite sure on the spacer issue, maybe you don't if it's the stock manifold, but I believe you do need the spacer to run the Air Regulator.

I wrote this somewhere a while back...

"The stock tb is 50mm. The intake manifold is matched from the factory to fit the 50mm tb. When you put a 60mm tb in the intake, you will need to essentially port match the intake to fit a 60mm tb.

As far as a spacer goes, one is needed only if you intend to run the stock throttle linkage and retain the cruise control. If you convert the throttle linkage to a cable type linkage then you dont need the spacer, but you will not be able to have cruise control. One more option is to modify the 60mm tb spring assembly so that the throttle linkage is hooked to the cruise control spring on the tb. That way you can still have cruise control and you dont have to run a spacer. If it were my car, I would just do away with the cruise.

Now for the tps (throttle position sensor) which is the little black box on the side of the tb. I dont know if the 240sx 60mm tps is interchangalbe with the 280zx tps. I believe the two will interchange physically, but not electrically. IE the 280zx computer wont recognize the tps as actually being a tps.

When you get it all done, you will probably have to mess around with tuning the tps, idle rpm and such.

I have never done this swap before. Everything I have told you is information I learned from reading up on Hybridz.org. If you cant seem to get it down pat, you always have your dad to help you out. Its not rocket science, and if you have common sense you will be fine. Just remember how it all goes back together before you start taking it apart."

correct ^^^

on the tube ZX engine though you can use the SX TPS as well. and converting the SX TB to work with the stock throttle linkage of the Z's is the hardest part, i still havent figured that one out yet.

I personally would just convert the linkage to a cable type. Its has a better feel to it. And it looks a lot cleaner

lol ok here if u want to use stock linkage u will have to gut your linkage parts on your tb and swap it over to the sx tb. then u will need a spacer BUT if dont want to get a spacer u can just go to cable operated. its very simple. i dont know if their is a how to on the internet but i can tell u what to do bc its what i did when i did my sx swap. also pallnet sells fuel rails and spacer if u need.

yeah. i know. unless your telling him. cable is real easy to run. make your own setup custom or get arizonazcar.com 's setup. though its for a 4 barrel conversion can be used either way. i may do it on my NA when i slap on my N42 intake since it shouldnt give me any problems.

I think he's referring to turbo engine lol. Anyway, the SX tb will work with the stock linkage if you use a spacer such as from JSK. It's much easier to bolt in a non cruise control tb from a 240sx as the shaft is shorter on that tb. The 240sx tps is setup the same as the 280zxt tps. Just use a multimeter when adjusting it.
