240sx 60mm throttle body
hey guys, i have an 83 280zx and an now the proud owner of a
60mm tb. its the one off the 2.4 I-4 240SX, you know the one with JECS on the bottom? anyways it has wires coming out of the side of the tps and im wondering can i run this tb without these wires hooked up? i know that the tps housing connectors will hook right up to the stock tps wire bundle in the car. never done this b4 any thoughts?

None of the 240SXs came with 60mm throttle bodies they are actually quite small so I don't know what you have there but it's not off a 240SX. I own a 240SX as well. The Infinity QX4 has a 60mm TB and maybe the Q45. Do you have a picture of this TB?
That turbo is probably a T25 and I wouldn't run more than 10psi with it as it will max out easily but it will spool very quick.

I own a 1992 and it does not come with a 60mm tb trust me on this one fellas. The 1st gen aka S13 came with the same sized TB as the 2nd gen S14 and S14.5 Go to freshalloy.com and do a search for 60mm TB a lot of KA24det and SR20DET people are using the 60mm off the QX4. If the KA24de engine has a 60mm TB than my 16V VW engine has a 120mm TB cause it's almost twice the size.
The SR20DET TB is 60mm not the KA24DE

I took a few shots of the throttle body and while the inlet is about 2.75" the actual opening where the butterfly valve is considerably smaller than the opening. So unless the Z butterfly is CONSIDERABLY smaller you will see minimal gains.
I took some pictures but I'm having problems posting them here for some reason as well as hyperlinks.. I'll try later.

if you've been around the z community and other boards for a while, you would know that 240sx do have 60mm tb's. the gains are depened the mods of which motor you put it on, but people do get gains out of them. there are soooo many , post, questions, answers, ads, articles, about, or on these 240sx tb's that for sure it is.

I haven't been around the Z community very long however, going from a 50mm to 60mm throttle body will show minor gains unlike going from a 50mm to 75mm tb would. My background is from watercooled VW and many of us have gone from the mk1 8v throttle body to the MK2 non-digifant TB. It's an easy mod that gives very minor gains. But for a trip to the scrapyard and $20 it's not bad.
I guess I have given up on modifications that take more time than they are worth. I'd rather install a 5L Mustang TB and fabricate a mounting plate instead of a TB that is going to give me maybe 5hp. FYI I'm using the Stang TB as an example I don't know how big it is.

That turbo you have a pic of, it's going to be harder to mount to the ZX than a regular T3 out of a 280ZXT would be because the turbo you've got has a 2 bolt compressor inlet whereas the T3 of a 280ZXT has no bolts and is just a regular opening. And the outlet for the J-pipe on the turbo ZX wouldn't match up with the outlet of that turbo. But if you have a place to fabricate an exhaust manifold and intake pipe for you, I'd say you could push ~4-6 psi.
