280zx brake light issue!?!
280zx brake light issue!?!
I have a 1982 280zx I just bought recently with a bunch of electrical problems such as front right side marker blinking fast (Might be because the bulb is out or flasher), front right headlight is really dim (Probably just has a bad ground), Reverse lights don't work (I don't even know bout this one), dash check light is on and system says tail lights (Could be because of the brake lights possibly), and last but not least and also what this whole "Thread" is about is my brake lights wont turn on. Now I checked the bulbs and they should be fine because they all work when running lights are on, and yes they are correct 2 element bulbs. I checked the fuse and all works but one which seems to be modified with a wire running in idk what for but I doubt its for the brakes, then I checked the brake light switches which is being properly engaged when pedal is pressed and depressed, but Im confused because there are 2 switches and I don't know which one is for the brakes and which ones the cruise one (also seems like previous owner had a problem before with the right switch because rubber is missing from the pedal on one switch so he used a nut to engage the button). Im thinking its a switch issue but the fact I don't even know which switch is which is bothering me. Does anyone have any ideas to help me with this issue.

First, download a free copy of the Factory Service Manual at:
XenonS130 - S130 Reference
Second, Get yourself a good DVOM (multimeter) and start tracing down the electrical grimlins one system at a time.
I recommend soldering and shrink tubing any new wiring repairs repairs. Not only is this the best way to repair wiring but you will also be able to recognize your repairs from the others and it will save you some headaches in the future.
