1983 280zx turbo won't start/stalls
I've looked around on the forums and haven't found anything similar to my problems.. mainly because of the wiring i'm about to mention. other than the fuel pump relay and that has been replaced.. so has the fuel pump.
So lets cut to the chase...
its a 1983 280zx turbo when I bought it it wasn't running but I bought it from a friend who thought it needed an ECU. He drove it for a while and before he sold it to me it started randomly dying on him and not starting. When I got it i took it to a mechanic friend who replaced some vacuum lines, put gas in the car (do'h), and it ran when I picked it up from him. Now its doing the same thing it did to my friend. The fuel pump will prime sometimes and sometimes not, but when it does it will start. I just started it and it ran for a second and died (it has a 1/2 tank of gas). Now the fuel pump won't prime (doesn't make a noise) or will try to and sounds like its having a hard time functioning.
**He has a switch spliced into the cylinder head temperature censor and one that was wired to the fuel pump to give it power but it really doesnt seem to do anything as far as effecting how the car starts/runs the cht sensor switch does though**
..any ideas? I also downloaded the FSM and couldn't really make any sense of it.. i have a feeling the switch to the fuel pump is grounding out or something and causing the fuel pump to not get any power

I ended up replacing the switch to the "power to the fuel pump" that my buddy wired up and apparently that's completing a circuit somewhere or something but it runs now..
If anyone thinks splicing into ANY harness on one of these cars is a good idea (if it was already running) don't do it!!!! lol just sayin
