will this work?

so i have been considering getting a new transmission after i get some springs and shocks and i was wonderin...

will a FS5R30A trans from a z31 fit? or are the bell housings and mounts different?

some local guy says i have the most desirable gear set that people could want, it accelerates like mad but its hampered by a low top speed, the acceleration would be great if i raced but i dont for the time being.

if the z31 trans wont fit whats a good one to stick in there?
one where when i do freeway speeds i am not crusing at 3500 rpm

Nope, the starter is on the wrong side... It's certainly possible to graft the bell housings together. It just takes time, money and or know how. I've seen 240SX tranny's put on these engines and the current "hybrid du jour" over at HybridZ is the Z32 tranny behind an L series.

What is your diff ratio? Because it sounds like you need a higher one eg 3.9:1. Thats assuming you have a five speed gearbox.
