Whats it idling at when you dont have a hose disconnected? Try raising your idle speed. If your idle speed is too low it will throw off your TPS as well. Disconnecting a vacuum hose will allow the engine to take in the air it needs to idle.

with hose off, it idle at 1200, with all hoses on 2-500 (bounces back between the two)

yeah I'd try just raising your idle speed. Engine sounds like it's suffocating and then when you pull the hose it's getting that little air it needs to idle. Does it do this all the time or only when its not warmed up? If it's only when it's not warmed up then I'd say your air regulator is bad. If it does this all the time then I'd try raising your idle speed

Yeah I suppose leaning out the mixture screw could be a fix too. I'd try the idle speed first though.

If you're talking about the mixture screw then that means its adjusted to all the way rich. Try backing it out and see what happens. That will lean out the mixture a bit.

I mean fuel on all 6? One bad injector connector and you're running like crap.

cool, just checking. missing a cylinder is enough to get her running below par but not enough to stop it from starting and running.
