turbo the n/a from a l20et

Ok i would love to turbo it but l28et's are just about non-existant out this way. is it possible to plug the gear from the l20 onto my l28. can i get away with plugging the exhaust manifold and turbo on and just swap computers or do i need to do loom, injectors etc as well?

So you already have an L20ET? Why swap it all over to an n/a L28? Just up the boost on the L20.

i would imagine the L28 is in his car. and the L20 and the L28 basically weigh the same. why would you use the lower displacement engine with the same weight and balance as the higher displacement???

and i would imagine you could bolt the stuff from the L20 on to the L28, as they are pretty much the same block. you would probably need to do some wiring, and an injectors for sure.

As long as the exhaust ports on the L20ET ex manifold are similar size / shape as the L28 head, you could bolt it on. I don't know what cc the L20ET injectors are tho... if they are bigger than ~180cc (size of the n/a L28's) then you should use them. You prolly shouldn't run much more than 5psi on the L28 n/a as the CR will be very high at full boost.

What numbers? The reason for caution is so you don't blow something...

the numbers are on his printout from the butt dyno Snwy uses on all his cars. The same dyno that he saw a 10hp increase by using a K&N air filter

Another thing to remember when converting from N?A to turbo is that they used different distributor set ups. Once you add boost, you ned to be able to retard the timing as the boost increases or the pistons will likely meet an untimely death due to pre detonation/pinging. 6 or 7 psi boost should be safe, as long as the air/fuel ratio is good, and the timing is right. Definetly would need bigger injectors than the stock n/a ones, and might need a bigger throttle body than what came stock on the L28 n/a or the L20 turbo to allow the l28 to breath right with boost.

i havent got the parts yet i'm just contemplating the bolt on of the turbo bits from the l20t. I was only thinking around 6 psi anyway is all i want to run. so if i do find a motor i should grab the dizzy off the l20 too to add on? what extra wiring would i need to do entropy31? as for the throttle body change i have that silly dual stage thing. would it still need a change over?
