been reading everywhere i can and some are saying that with my injectors at 100% duty cycle the most i canhope for is 170hp at the wheels. some ppl ahve swapped to tripples and gained 40+ hp with varying setups. thats a gain im happy to get. plus i get about 18-19 mpg with my efi, and most are saying 22 or so with tripples, so with those 2 things in hand, i shall set out on rebuidling these carbs pronto, and get tuning. im gonna do a how-to fot others to read as there are no direct coralation between the 2 systems.

Though your car has more than 170hp... if it can keep up w/ my car @ 8psi boost with a worn cam, and rod knock (about 210hp).

What kind of intake do you have? I've noticed that there are varying lengths, and that the longer ones will not leave enough room between the rear carb and brake booster. If I had it to do over again...I would have just put a turbo motor in mine to begin with. The triples look awesome, sound awesome, and did give me a boost in upper end....I have alot better throttle response, and it revs higher and quicker with the fuel injection..think of it this way..there's a reason the early 280's (s30's) chucked the injection for carbs in the scca. If you have the money tho, an aftermarket fuel injection is the way to go...

btw...I'm gathering parts for a V8 swap in the quest for reliable cheap h.p.....plus a cammed small block just sounds so cooool...lol

1200 and the entire drive train is yours....Centerforce clutch/aluminum flywheel, MSA coated header, Crane XR3000 ignition, MSD coil, turbo oil pump, new water pump, wires, plugs, ect...plus the carbs: SK Racing w/ TWM intake.

edz that is a good price for your motor. ive done the 350ci/425hp swap before on a customers zx. it was just plain nutz. i dont have the cash for aftermarket efi, otherwise i would absolutely go that route as i enjoy the perks of technology. for now, this is cheap, quick and easy. then there is tuning.

if i went with a V engine. A properly built LQ1 or Northstar is the way to go. gain what you can from the twin cam technology. it's out there for a reasion.

Dude the lq1 would be a waste of time and money, for the same costs you can do an LS1 swap and get much more power. Also good luck finding a cheap northstar engine.

Anyways back on topic, Shady considering you already have the tripples, rebuilding them and using them sounds like the best option.

And as for the blow through carb idea, if you're going to go the turbo route efi is the way to go. Much more efficient.

If you do an LS1, be prepared to cut the frame rails....I've personally test fit one into a s130, and there's less than an inch between the rails and the heads.....that's why I've yet to see one..ever. If you've seen one..I want pics..please prove me wrong (seriously, I'd love to put one in my car..lol)

ed is it no wider than the chev 350??? or can you mount it a bot higher? ive done the 350 thing and thought the ls would be simmilar. i know they are the new 350 as far as hotrod builds go.

Well....I may have to eat my words here...I found the pics of the test fit..if you have a rack, it may fit..I'll let you decide...I don't remember why we thought it wouldn't fit. Maybe the exhaust would hit the frame rails..can't remember.

yes that is exactly the size of a 350!! if you have the steering box, you have to swap to a rack. i did this for the swap on zachrates car. you can see the clearance was even less that yours. after the rack swap there was plenty of room. jtr supplied the headers, they are made for the application and worth every penny

All they are, are shorties, just tubular manifold replacements, I've got longtubes on my sbc s30 and wouldnt go with anything but.
