timing? fuel?
timing? fuel?
Ok so here's the deal, i finally got my car back together and got it running. i took it to class to do the ignition timing and it is 80 degrees off (give or take a few). it was still running and driving fine but i let it sit parked at school all day and it wouldn't start. I loosened the distributor and turned it and it wouldn't start until i put it right back into the position it was already in the first place. I drove it home let it sit a few hours and wouldn't start again. So i went back and messed around with the distributor and it ended up starting again in the same place it was already set at and then died once i got to the bottom of the hill
pushed it back up messed with the distributor again and now it won't start at all. The fuel lights also going on and i have a little more of a quarter of a tank in there. any suggestions?

My thoughts lie on the ignition module. If it goes bad it can work intermittently, and it can really throw off your timing. When I replaced mine, I never had to touch the distributor or anything to adjust timing, but once I put the new module in, timing was way off.
Got the same problem, my timing's retarded. And everyone sells their timing lights for like 40+ bucks around here. It sucks.
I think I may just try to do it by turning it without the light. Probably won't be helpful though. Good luck with your problem!

I don't know what your Autotech teacher is using to check it, but Nismo is right, that's so far off, it wouldn't run at all.
You don't "adjust" the ignition module. It's good or it's bad. When it's bad, it can work intermittently, but there's no adjustment.
What experience does your autotech teacher have with Datsun's and fuel injection?
