some basic questions

gday all

its been a while since i graced the forum with my presence
ill just explain my situation i have a 79 280zx NA auto at the moment, iv recently bought another 280zx that was written off due to the body losing a fight with with pole at 60kph, the car is mechanically sound though, the idea was to put the best bits on my ride, but due to severe structual rust wich some retard covered up with body filler and painted so i didnt find it till recently this isnt an option.
so iv bought another 280 minus the engine and gear box so i now am halfway through stripping both cars, before putting together the best of all 3. The end result however will be awsome i think.

however my questions are:

How much hp does a stock 280zx 5 spd have? and what times do they run 0-60 and the quarter?

also in that ever elusive quest of more power, what would be the recomended mods for more power??

im on a reasonably strict budget so im not looking to break the land spd record just to compete with modern jap cars and so forth.

Ps. using a L28ET is not an option as there are only fourteen 5 spd 280zx gear boxes in Western Australia, so finding a turbo engine would be pretty f#$king difficult.

thanks heeps every1

Shave the head for higher compression, advance the cam, install longer duration cam, head porting, larger exhaust, lower geared rearend from an 81-83 280ZX. (if the ZX specs are the same for you as the USA)
Nothing is cheap though.
The 79 ZX is about 170 engine horsepower, 135whp. That's maybe 16.5 in the quarter mile stock. Is yours a 2+2 like most in WA?

I'm not sure what the turbo engine has to do with 5-speed trannys. You can use a turbo engine with an auto.

cheers dude thanks for the stats hey
what i was trying to say bou the turbo engines: in WA all i have ever seen are NA autos, iv only ever seen 1 manual (and now its all mine MWAHAHA) so going by this the chance of seeing a L28ET is not very good.

thanks for the reply, cept my circustances have now changed, ill give details in new thread
thnks again
