PCV valve removal

I am having a hard time removing the PCV valve. I can't have a good leverage on it in such a tight spot. I am trying to remove it from the top standing by the driver side, it's turning but it's very hard. I am using a round or crescent wrench and it's even harder to turn with a socket. Any ideas that might help me take it off would be really appreciated.

Thanks

I used a foot long crescent wrench and some penetrating lube. If you have to, use a cheater bar to help you get more leverage. If you're starting to round out the edges, put a small amount of masking tape around the valve and resume, the tape will help your wrench grip.
