Oil leak by the oil filter

Hi,

I have been noticing a slow oil leak on the engine wall next to the oil filter, as if the oil filter is loose or it is missing some sort of a gasket, I also make sure that I oil the filter's gasket before installing it. It's not leaking on the floor. I know the oil filter is not loose because I installed it myself. The leak shows like a wet spot on the engine wall. I tried Nissan and K&N oil filters but the leak is still there.

Your thoughts will be appreciated.

Thanks

Probably your oil pressure sensor or possibly the valve cover. I have had leaks out of both of those areas and they are both easy fixes.

Yeah that sounds like your oil sending unit. I had mine go out over a year ago in my '81. It was kind of a pain to change, but not too bad. Check that and your valve cover. And make sure you get cork gaskets. They last longer, made my Fram. Hope this helps!

Ok. How does the cork gasket works? Is it installed between the filter and the engine wall, I mean should I put on the filter and then instanll the filter.

NO I mean the cork gaskets for the valve cover, not the oil filter. And all I did with the oil sending unit was take the old one off, and put the new one on. Sorry for the confusion, hope this helps.
