Question My '82 is running rich "tips appreciated"

As it says, I have had a problem with my Z running rich. After I receive my timing light. And time him correctly, I am going to go through the EFI, and ECCS system. Like my workshop manual says.I believe somthing is faulty. It looks like I can mainly use a multimeter to test the various components. Anyway any tips or help, would be greatly appreciated.

well seeming that you had it profesionally tested, something def. is not working up to par. poss. the temp sensor? the multimeter is a very valuble tool when testing these cars.

Yeah I was thinking of pointing my finger at the CHTS. And I have adjusted my AFM, as much as I can. Until I get the timing light. If I leaned it out anymore, it would idle erratically. Also I have noticed stuff coming out the pipe, like sooty. Maybe just when he is cold? Not really sure, will investigate further. Anyway thanks for the tips guys keep them coming.

Let me know when you find it WildmaN, I've been trying to figure out why mine runs too rich for over 3 years now. I have replaced EVERYTHING...

I will gurantee, that mine is much worse than yours. Mine is so bad, I can smell the unburnt fuel. And I reek of exhaust after driving my Z. Also the black sooty crap, that comes out the pipe, when revving him. It is getting really bad, and I am going through all the EFI, and ECCS components. But if it does help your problem, I will let you know what I find out. Actually everybody here, that reads this thread, will know. Anyway just waiting on my timing light. In the meantime, I am going to start testing my equipment this week. Will keep you all updated.
