Loose plug wire caused intermittent power.

Hey all,

I finally tracked down my intermittent power loss problem. My #6 spark plug wire had a bad connection in it. I am curious however as to how this would create momentary power loss.

The #6 injector hose was leaking (I assume due to the lack of spark for the cylinder). I patched it up and replaced the plug wire and now everything is working fine.

How would this have caused momentary power loss to all injectors at high rpms? Could the leaking fuel have shorted some sensor in close proximity to the injector?

Thanks,
Alex

A loose spark plug wire would cause the spark to arc to the cylinder head (or other metal object), instead of the spark plug.

no spark to spark plug = cylinder doesn't fire.
