You will see at the top of the intake, 6 long things in the engine. And with plugs on each one. Those are fuel injectors, sorry I can't describe things too well sometimes. lol But hopefully this helps you out.

Check out MSA for a 2 1/2 inch exhaust. Pretty cheap for their basic kit, and if you want more noise you can swap the muffler for whatever you want. Anyway, just remember, generally you can have 2 of the following 3:
-Cheap
-Fast
-Reliable

All i can say for you jo is to read, read, read, read, read, read and then read some more. Hit up howstuffworks.com as was mentioned above for a basic rundown on how pretty much anything works. Get yourself familiar with automotive systems then put start wrenchin' on your car. You dont want to end up abondoning the project because you dove into it to quickly. I can tell you're seeking the knowledge because you're asking a lot of questions here. Another good reason to learn as much as you can about the mechanics of these cars is that they're pretty old and you're likely to be doing little things here and there and will be troubleshooting problems with some frequency. They're great cars though and worth the extra effort.
EDIT: and i'm not sure if you have one or not, but get yourself a Haynes manual from your local auto parts store. Depending on your area they may have to order it. It will pay for itself many times over (especially considering they're only like $15.00).

Here is what I did, it is 3" PVC from Home Depot...plumbing department and it was less than $10 for all of the piping. It is a 90 degree pipe but you can get creative. The only problem I had was coupling the PVC to the rubber intake hose to the Throttle Body. I would definitely make a bracket to hold the air cleaner in place....not 16awg speaker wire like I did This is now on my Turbo car and I modified it to fit better...see pic.

If its just a stock cam then you can reuse most of the valve train except for the rockers. But with a performance cam you then need to use new lash pads and possibly springs depending on the new cam specs.
