thats not a clutch problem..... that sounds more like a tranny problem.. when your clutch goes.. your car wont go.. even in gear...

When the clutch is worn, it will just slip.... so you can rev the engine in gear, but it won't engage (or is slow to engage). When it pops out of gear, the syncros or actual gears are most likely worn to the point they don't grab anymore & it kicks back out of gear.

BTW... you can get a stock clutch from Autozone for $130 & it will grab just as good as that goofy "puck" style clutch.

your clutch will wear out way before your pressure plate does... but in your case.. NismoPick is dead on.. your syncros are prolly shot... thats why it pops out of gear

I dont know that that is something you want to tackle. Get it rebuilt, or better yet, find another used tranny. I'll parrot the fact that it has nothing to with the clutch

LoL. Yep... why do you think transmission shops charge hundreds and even thousands to rebuild trannies??? It's not easy. The gears must be PRESSED on, and in the right order. Here's some spended views of the inside of the 5 speed tranny (not the Nissan one, but similar):

do you have the proper bearing spliter, or removal tool, you cant use a gear puller on this tranny, ive taken them apart, and its not easy, im paying to have someone do my tranny next time, if its out of the car, then its aboot 700 buck to rebuild, and the syncro kit from nissan is 600 cdn, and then aboot 80 bucks a bearing, use nissan parts only, youll be sorry if you dont, trust me

That is EXACTLY what my tranny was doing... RIGHT BEFORE IT DISINTEGRATED!

Do yourself a favor, and find a "Donor" tranny from another Z. The parts alone to "rebuild" your current tranny, aside from being almost impossible to come by anymore, will cost you more than the car is worth.

Rod.
