When the average non Z person thinks of Datsun, they think pick up. A little experiment: go to a parts store and tell them you need a part. When they ask what kind of vehicle, say Datsun. And see if they don't automaticaly assume it's a pickup.

And besides, it's the same freaking company. It's not like calling it a mazda or toyota, Datsun IS Nissan. But hey, I'm not here to argue. Everyone has their preferences, and to each his own.
And I am by no means saying there is anything wrong or embarassing about the Datsun name. I just don't differentiate between the two names. You can't call the newer Z's Datsun, so I just call then all Nissan's.

You guys SHOULD be proud.

If you think about the Datsuns from the 70's that are left, you don't see any of the cars out there anymore. there's a few, but not compared to the Z's and 620 trucks.

What happened to all the 610, 710, 210 cars? Nobody cared enough to keep them up so they are scrap. the trucks are useful and plentiful so they lasted. The Z's were usually kept in good shape overall so that's why we still see plenty of them around.

Yeah I has a '82 Datsun King cab pickup. I just ran it through the ground. It was my first car when I turned 18. I treated it horribly, and now I regret it. Oh well you live you learn. And as far as I know, that engine is still going strong. And I junked it in '94! I rolled the truck on it's side. And I was really crazy behind the wheel. Hence my name WildmaN, I earned it with paying a price!

true, I saw a rallied 510 on ebay a few months ago... 510's were awesome. I know they are way more common than the ones you listed, but still a very cool car... I don't think my wife would like it though.... She about killed me when I brought home my Justy I love that little car!

I must say, my lady has been good to me. Only leaks oil on the kitty litter in the driveway, doesn't argue much, and is generally never tempermental. I LOVE MY Z! Even though she's in pieces in the garage.

Hey cruiser, is it true that Nissan never imported the 2 seater to Australia, only the 2+2? I heard the only 2seaters down there were imported by private parties. Any truth to this?

I don't think that country got any turbo Z at all.

In the USA, we got both 2-seater and 2+2 turbo cars. Only for the 280ZX model. The 300ZX turbo came only in 2-seater.

You should have killed him. Of all the *** clown things to say, he had to call it gay. The man was obviously unstabily suicidal. You'd have been doing him a favor. @$$hole!! I apologize for the language, but that's just lame.

My older brother and I have both had Datsun's for our first cars. He had a datsun pick up truck, and I have the 240Z. The truck was die hard. He used to drive the hell out of it, and it always wanted more punishment. It's end came when he rolled it 3 1/2 times. He had 4 people in the cab and 6 under the campershell, they went onto the freeway, he was speeding, and rolled it. The worst injury was a sprained/bruised knee. The roof was flattened down to the middle of the door, where the window ends on the bottom. The truck still ran too, after the flips and everything.

Yeah my 83 was/is my first car and every day I say I am going to sell it but I have yet to put a For Sale sign on it I also beat an xfriend for kicking a dent in the rear drivers side fender, and to add insult to injury I made him pay to get it fixed. So yes I cherish the car

My z looks like **** inside and out, but there aint no way in hell you can drive it, w/ the T tops off, and not have a smile on your face.. Like I said, it's the new nieghborhood ***** around here...280zx + 5spd = Sex. Plain and simple. but thank god, I'm getting it painted black pearl this month, and re doing the whole interior..and maybe if I got some change left over, get the nitrous kit I've been longing for. I got an srt4 that needs to be put in it's place....
