my guess would be to readjust your afm back to its original setting and see what happens at that point. changing plugs and wires(unless changing from low quality to high performance wires/plugs; unless perhaps they were really crappy) would create much, if any, timing changes. my question is, is the timing off at idle? or is it off when accelerating the engine? if its off at idle then, unless you really messed with the afm, your old plugs and wires were bad. check your gaps on your plugs and make sure the wires are meeting the minimum standards. let us know what happens. good luck
oooh, ya that Air flow meter is not to be messed with for fun. You're probably looking at a lean condition rather than bad timing. If you turn the distributor, then that changes the ignition timing. There is a small bolt at the base that should hold it at once spot. Maybe while you put the wires on, that got moved a little.... but more likely your AFM is now messed up.
