Gas smell this morning

I recently started smelling a heavy gas odor every time i crank my car up then when I leave my house this am there is a gas puddle under my engine bay area Any idea where this could be coming from?I think its probably the extra gas when I pump it in the morning but where does it come out from?

better buy a fire extinguisher OR find the leak. try looking with a flashlight if necessary.

Fuel lines, injectors, pressure regulator. All are very visible... so like Roger said, take a look.

Why would you pump the gas pedal? The 280zx is an EFI system, not carb.

pumping the gaspedal when the engine is not running does absolutely nothing on a FI engine. youve got a leak and when it catches on fire scratch one Z. altho since you didn't see fit to inform us of the year Z you are asking about maybe you do have carbs. looking is still the answer instead of hoping it fixes itself

I sincerely hope you have a fire extinguisher with you if you're driving it while gas is pouring into the engine bay...

It shouldnt be too hard. I assume you know where the fuel filter is, check the lines there (top and bottom), follow it to the rail, check the FPR and injectors, and then follow it away. Honestly if youve got a screwdriver it can't hurt to go through and tighten all of the clamps.

I have the video. We played it in Afghanistan all the time to freak out the Iowa Guard.

Don't overfill the tank

Especially on a Z-car do NOT overfill the tank.

As soon as the nozzle clicks ONCE stop pumpi8ng!!!

Otherwise you risk saturating the carbon cannister and filling the vent line, intended for vapors, with liquid fuel.

Your fuel MAY be dripping out of the bottom of the carbon cannister if you're in the habit of topping up.

In fact, in the summertime, I never fill my tank more than 4/5ths full. Seems to have a lot more expansion than other vehicles, for whatever reason.
