Factory air box upside down?

One of my friends told me that if I flip the lid on my airbox in my 280 upside down and bolt it down that its the same thing as a cold air intake. Is this true?

Ummm..........your 280 already has cold air intake. The air box is in the very front of the car and is not sucking in the hot engine air or hot air off of the radiator. As a matter of fact almost every single car made for the last 20 years has a cold air intake. Virtually all of their airboxes have fresh air supplied from the outside of the car.

What a bunch of Fast and Furious hype!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sorry...did I go off the deep end or what!?!?!?

Ok, but what about if I added a K&N air filter for my factory air box? I just got a generic one in there right now.

Research has proven that K&N filters do free up air flow and help improve throttle response. But don't expect more then 5 horsepower.
