exhaust for 1980 280zx your thoughts

The build on our 1980 280zx is coming along. We are at that point were we need to change out the exhaust.

Had anyone replaced the stock exhaust with an upgraded system?

If so what kind and how did you like it?

I bought the upgraded MSA kit at the same time I put a header on. It was pretty good but the muffler didn't line up exactly like I wanted. I haven't had any issues with it and like the sound.

Many have.

The choices are many. You can buy a whole kit from MSA / BDA, or just buy a header and have a local shop fab up the rest, or just get a cat-back, or just a muffler, etc... Usually the best option price and quality wise is to get it done from a local well known trustworthy exhaust shop. 2.5" header back with cat should run ~$400. If you don't need a cat, somewhere around $200.

Also feel free to search as we've discussed exhaust options many times.

Thanks for the input.

I order from MSA all the time for my 370z Nismo.

Do they ever give a discount?

I don't think MSA gives a discount but there was someone on facebook giving a discount if you ordered stuff from MSA through him... maybe the guy who sells the bolt on fender flares?
