ecu too stand alone

I was just woundering if any one has done a stand alone fuel system on a 280zx, and if so how much did it cost and how hard was it to do? And what are the benifits. Any info would be great thanx.

there's a very recent thread on here where someone put mega squirt on their s130. it worked out GREAT. i think he only had about $400 in it. which is good considering that you probably would be pushing to replace the stock system for that.

Wolf 3D - for turbo cars.

Megasquirt is the cheapest, offers the most user 'at home' adjustability, and probably the most difficult to set up.

That's what I like about Nistune, is you can convert to the Z31 ECU/MAF setup then install Nistune into that ECU. So it won't require any other harness/sensor modifications. Plus it'll have a rom image installed so once you have the board installed in the ECU you can immediately drive it like normal. Then when you want to start tuning.

They are the stand alone fuel management systems you were asking about if anyone has done.

I used MegaSquirt and don't regret it. It is not for the timid....But for the money I think, at least for me it has worked out very well. $400 and a a lot of hard work, but work it does...

The greatest advantage of a standalone is the elimination of the original efi wiring harness. The 25 year old wires and connectors desperately need replaced on these cars.
