I just got an 81' 280zx non turbo in fair condition. I was wondering what I can do for starters in the performance category. I also wanted to know what the best spark plug to use.

depends, you could start off with just bolt ons (intake, full exhaust, throttle body) then you can decide if you want to put more money into it.

Use NGK spark plugs. Put on a K&N air filter and a 2.25" exhaust. Leave the rest alone unless you go inside the engine.

For real power, raise the compression and put in a new cam. Then port the intake manifold and use a larger throttle body.
