Detonation or turbo bearings...?
Ok,
I am in the midst of trying to diagnose the problem of the car running badly when it is cold, and I used grease on the connectors, then wd40, then nothing. Now the car seems to be running a little bit worse since i cleaned the connectors, but might be my imagination. The car idles roughly ( on occasion), and sometimes when i start and it idles rough, the fuel light comes on until i hit the gas.
Then there was a possible breakthrough today...I was on the high way and was had the radio off so i could listen to the engine, and i realized that when i go over 4500 rpm or about 85mph, I heard the noise that I thought was the old turbo's ball bearings, but it sounded more like detonation. I also hear this noise sometimes when i accelerate hard from 1st gear. It sounded like the "nails in a coffee can" sound i have heard about...But i always associated that noise with turbo beaings being too hot. So, if the car is leaning out at 4500, what could be causing this??
I got some electrical cleaner and I am going to run through the connectors again tomorrow.
Thanks alot guys

It could be your fuel system, anything from the pump to the injectors. If it's around 4500 and at WOT, check your injectors to make sure they are flowing and not leaking. The pump could be getting old, ZXT's also run very very lean after 4700 rpms to about 5500, or at least that's what came up on the dyno when I had my car dynoed. I also had a similar problem to yours and as stupid as this sounds, it was due to 3 things on 3 different occasions. 1. Old/bad plug wires, cap and rotor 2. Low oil 3. Bad AFM and O2 sensor. Hope this helps you out and gives you some ideas. Just another thought since you said connectors, the originals will get old and not read right, you could check on replacing them because I had to on the #4 and 5 to get my injectors to fire right.
