clutch safety switch help

i have a 280zx manual. i do not have a clutch safety switch that keeps me from starting it while the clutch pedal is not pushed down. do they come stock with this, and if it is suppose to work does it maybe have anything to do with my cruise control not working? any info would be great

well i know that if u put a manual on cruise that it will disengage when u push in on the clutch. what if our cars think the clutch is always pushed down.

my main reason for opening this thread was to see if it is suppose to have one. my car talks to me and tells me my doors are open, fuel is low, lights are on., trouble shoots headlights tail lights and so on. i would expect the 280 to have a safety switch

i dont think the older ones did, i have a 78 S30 and a 79 S130 and neither of them do i have that and the odds of 2 cars having them and having both cars not working is not likely so i dont think so.

The 280zx does have a clutch switch, but it does not impede the car from starting if the pedal is not pressed.

If the stopper for the clutch switch is missing the switch will always be open and the cruise control will never engage. Make sure it's there on the backside of the clutch pedal assembly where it contacts the clutch switch. These stoppers falling apart and falling off are quite common. I'm sure there are several member here that have had either the clutch or brakelight stopper kick the bucket on them I know I've had both go on me.
