so i took my n42 apart...and i took the cam out...i tought cams had bearings like the crank does...i didnt know the cam mounts are just one aluminum piece...so if i get a turbo cam, will my aluminum mounts work with it?? like are the cam grinds just different or are the mounts different too??!?!! i need a BAD valve job..there is **** baked on there left and right...layers of carbon...god that engine never ran right!

also do you guys know a reasonable place for a good rering kit...i need the whole deal..bearings, seals, plugs, everything...

Don't worry! Only the lobes are different. The cam towers are the same and will require no modifications to take a turbo cam.

Now the question is, why do you want a turbo cam? Are you going to turbo your NA motor?

Aren't you going to just get a p90 head and stick it on your "NA" F54 block and rebuild it with dished turbo pistons???

I saw a webpage showing the stock lift and duration of the NA and turbo cams for 1981. They are almost identical. The differences in duration on just the intake were very small. I would say that a stock non-turbo cam works fine in a turbo motor.

If I remember right, the turbo cam has 5 deg less duration on the exhaust but exactly the same on the intake. lift is the same on everything.
