Auto oil cooler question

I'm doing a turbo swap in my 83 280zx and on the 81 turbo motor i noticed there was a oil cooler on the block. On top of that, the people that removed the engine at the junk yard hacked the lines off about a foot after the cooler.

Is this needed or can i remove or bypass it since i'm running a 5 speed setup.

I checked around the forums for a bit and didn't see much about this so yea.

Thanks in advance!

You don't "NEED" it, but it's a good benefit. You can remove the distributor block & run a regular oil filter off the side. I think you have to change the threaded tubes though...
