Anybody Done This
Anybody Done This
I Was Wondering, I Installed My Big Bore Tb And Turbo Afm. I Took Out All Of The Cold Start Stuff, The Car Still Runs And Starts Fine. Now The Weird Part, I Had To Open The Throttle Blade A Little Bit To Get It To Idle. Not Much, Just A Hair. Adjusting The Idle Control Wasnt Doing Anything, Until I Opened The Blade. Has Anybody Else Had To Have Done This?
yes there are always issues with the big throttle body. When I put mine on it was idling too high. I adjusted the idle adjuster all the way down just to get it to idle at 950 rpm. Eventually I put the stock throttle body back on and got more power... really.
On my turbo I'm leaving the stock throttle body for better throttle control.

Thats how I have mine set up to idle as well. I just messed with the screw to get it to idle where I wanted it. It's higher than stock once it's warmed up but otherwise it wouldn't hold an idle when it was cold. It would hang on at like 400-500RPM's til it would die. Still idles kind of low when its cold out but it's manageable.
See the problem with the big bore that a lot of people dont take into account is that it actually flows more air then you engine can ingest. So the problem comes it because the engines taking in it's maximum amount of air at part throttle, so no matter how much more you open the throttle, your engine cant take in any more air. So from that point on it's basically a dead pedal. But losing power shouldn't happen. On a carbureted engine too big a carb will cause you to lose power but on an FI the air flow doesn't control the fuel flow (the ECU does). But, if that TB is outflowing the stock air meter then it could be that you were taking too much air in and the ECU couldn't compensate with the extra fuel cause it was already maxed out. Basically it could've cause a lean condition. On a turbo car though I cant imagine a bigger TB causing any problems like that since that car is probably far outflowing the TB.

I Havent Let The Engine Warm Up Yet Because I Havent Installed The Filter. My Car Stock Never Idled Well When Cold. I Think The System Didnt Work Anyway. And Its Not That Cold Here In My Part Of Canada, Its Kinda Like Washington Or Oregon.(im 5 Minutes From The Border) It Sure Revs Alot Quiker Too. Im Solving The Fuel Part With 55-65 Psi Of Fuel, So Far It Seems To Be Working. It Just Pushes Crap Loads Of Fuel Through The Injector When It Opens. A Little Ghetto I Know But Thats All I Got. I Also Got 10.8:1 Comp, So I Need Fuel.
