Annoying problemo !

I drive a 1980 280ZX 2+2 and on occasion, when I start my car, it runs for a few seconds and then "dies". Sometimes it does this several times and sometimes it only does it once. Also, from time to time, at normal driving speeds, the blasted thing just "chugs" a bit and then "dies". When this happens, I sit for a few minutes and play the "start and die game" and eventualy the problem goes away and I can continue on. Sometimes this is an every day problem and then it may go a week or two without incident. Whatever the problem is, it's totaly unpredictable and very annoying. Any advice would be greatly appreciated so as to possibly avoid playing a potentialy expensive as well as time consuming guessing game.

Thanks,

JBs280Z

Check all the usual things first: Cold start valve, air regulator, chts, afm, and all their connections. Also check timing, spark plugs, cap, rotor, yada yada yada...

Change your fuel filter & use a good fuel system cleaner like Redline. Sounds like you've got some crap in your fuel lines...Your fuel pump might be on its way out too...

Well JB...I think your problem is the fact that your car is not as aerodynamic as mine and therefore slower...I don't know why you bring any of this up...you know my '79 is yours as soon as the turbo is running.

Well I know that pesky four inches of extra car I have is causing so much drag, , but I still think I can take you. And I know the 79 is mine........s and I greatly appreciate that but, I'd like to have two cars that run properly so I can then decide which one I'd like to drive daily and which one I'm going to rip apart and put a Titan engine in. Then I'll have an unfair advantage and will be spankin' that *** ! spankin' that *** !
