280zxt fuel injector upgrade

I am looking to upgrade my stock injectors on my 1982 280zxt. I believe the stock ones are 259cc, which I have been told are only good for up to 230 crank hp. SO are there any injectors from other cars that will directly, or with minimal modification, fit into the stock 280zxt fuel rail/intake manifold?

I may have the supplies to make a custom fuel rail if need be, they look pretty simple to fab.

Keeping the stock ecu??? Are you going to increase the boost? Intercooler??? With the stock efi the max is 370cc injectors. Older supra injectors are 310cc, and Buick GN are about 300cc. There are also 450cc RX7 injectors and 460cc? Mercedes injectors.

I plan on increasing the boost when I get an intercooler. I want to run the stock ecu for the time being. I kinda wanted some junkyard special injectors, because my friend can just clean them up like new at his work. Basically I want the biggest cc injector I can possibly run with a stock ecu. If I can run even bigger injectors by doing a simple upgrade like a hi volume fuel pump, or something of that nature, then that can be done.

I just read this, so I think im going to look for some svo injectors

But does it matter that they are a pintle style, and the stock injectors are a hole type?

and whats all this about 'peak and hold' and 'saturated' injectors. I think one is high impedance, the other is low. Which impedance are the stock injectors?

if you can't find a svo the same injectors are on the thunderbird turbo coupes. as long as its the 2.3l inline 4 engine.

Yeah, the SVO's are also known as Brown Top 35lb injectors (easiest way to find them on ebay). Like Skittle said they come on Ford 4cyl engines, so you'll prolly have to buy two sets (even better incase you get a dead one).

The 280zxt injectors are low impedance. Lifegrddude took off the SVO short tipped pintle caps & ran them w/o any pintle cap. I personally wouldn't go as big as 370cc's on a stock L28ET. 300-310cc is plenty and more functional as a daily driver / racer.

If you plan to run the 370's, you'll need to tighten your afm about 12 teeth to get it to idle and run right. I don't know how much boost you are planning to run, but I used the 370's for up to 0.9 bar of boost with no major issues on the stock efi.

I was using an SAFC for a while, but now I'm using a reprogrammed ecu with a Z32 maf. However, I did use the 370's on stock efi and the z31 swap. Now I'm using 440's.

You could get a set of Supra 310's for prolly $100. 370's will work too... Lifegrddude is proof.

If you're gonna do an RB, do an RB25. The RB26 is a PITA to fit in an S130 engine bay. Unless you do a custom turbo exhaust manifold, you run into clearance issues with the motor mount and the steering rack on the twin turbo RB26. It can be done, it's just more work. The RB25 is easier to shoe horn in there and it'll save you some duckets since the RB26 carries the "Yo! it's like JDM yo!" price premium. Everyone that makes big power converts to a single turbo anyway.
