1983 ECU Replacement / Canada Emissions?

1983 ECU Replacement / Canada Emissions?
I have a normally aspirated 1983 2+2 coupe, manual transmission, production date 4/83. US car.
A few weeks ago I stupidly hooked up a battery charger backwards and burned some things in the car. Trying to get it running again. Car was otherwise perfect before my genius move. I've replaced the main fusible link to the accessories, so those are working now. I removed the ECU and opened it up and there are several components burned in it - more than are covered in the sticky about rebuilding them.
So I was looking for a replacement/rebuilt unit. AutoZone shows a 72-3114 Cardone rebuilt unit for 1983 with manual transmission and no Canada emissions, however when I try to order it it changes from 'In Stock' to 'Not Available'. In searching eBay, I find a Cardone unit from several parts places (including AutoZone) but it is the version for Canada emissions (72-3057). Part # on my damaged unit is A11-652 805.
Does anyone know what exactly is different about Canada emissions on the ECU? I can't find any info about that on the web. My state (South Carolina) doesn't check emissions, so I don't really care about them outside of wanting the car to run correctly. The engine ECU I removed from the car has a sticker on the side saying to only use it in a 1983 model, but the 72-3057 indicates it's good for 1982-1983.
I'm sure my core is rebuildable, so I may contact ZCarSource next week and see what they can do since they've been good to me for other parts, but would still like to learn about the potential differences with these other ECUs that are Canada-compliant.
In a similar vein, for anyone who may have previously matched my stupidity, aside from the fusible link and the ECU, are there any other items I should check/replace after having my reverse-polarity incident? Thanks!

Thank you - I appreciate the heads-up, but my car is not a Turbo.
I bought a 1982 ECU off eBay and it worked - the car is running fine. At the same time, I shipped my 1983 ECU to Auto ECM Electronics, in Grand Prairie, TX. They were recommended by another member on a different Z forum. They rebuilt my unit and returned it to me this week, but I have not had time to swap it in and verify that it works yet. Once I do I'll let everyone know how it turned out in case anyone ever needs similar work.
