ROTA RB-X front clearance
ROTA RB-X front clearance
Hi All,
I'm thinking about getting a staggered set of RB-X's for a 1982 280ZX 2+2, and I've run into a small snag. The 17x9.5 -19 setup in the rear will fit fine, and I've measured, however, I've seen people fit 17x9 -13 in the front, and I'm not sure how to mount these up without them hitting against the shock absorber. The current (stock) wheels (14x6 -10) are about 1.5cm (~0.6 inches for you Americans) away from the shock, and the new set (17x9 -13) move the barrel back about 4cm (1.6 inches). How have people been able to make this work? I'll attach some photos of examples I've seen.

Unfortunately I can't really help, but i'm in a similar situation. May car has 260z/280z wheels on that are 14x5.5 and prehaps +13 offset, although I can't confirm the offset. Anyway, they're close to the front strut/shock. A 6.5J wheel at ET0 would obviously be just as close, but with more poke, but anything much bigger would need a negative offset. I havn't measured the gap yet, but 7J ET0 would probably work, as would 8J ET0 also, as they'd be ~6mm closer to the strut. That would be pushing it though. Mines an '83 2+2 UK car.
