Rear end woes

Ok I am trying to remove the rear axles, but the side yolk bolt dosent want to come off. Before I bust my knuckles and strip the head (worse), are they reverse threads, am I doing something wrong. I mean it seems pretty straight forward but I have never worked on a RWD car before. got the bolts off the hub, swung it to its max angle for acess and no luck turning loose (righty tighty lefty loosy) put the wrench on it, put the parking brake on and put 2 bolts back on the hub (use the wheel to hold it still while I turn the wrench) cause I couldent hold it enouph to turn, and it wants to strip. Please help my wife needs her car!
