Fuel Sensor ( Spoil Alert ) :)

I took my fuel sensor out of the tank, to see if there was trash, everything was really clean, reinstalled the sensor, Now

The gas gauge bounces as the gas moves around in the tank.

The FSM answer was Power to the gauge, from Cluster could be messing up.

It didnt happen till I pulled the tank sensor, before it was totally stable.

Is there a spring or something that popped off while it was out ?

The gauge has 2 needles, 1 for total, the bottom 1 shows 1/4 tank and below, why that is needed is beyond me. But since I pulled the sensor, not only does the total needle bounce. The 1/4 gauge on the bottom is inop.

Where did I go wrong ?, at least the tank was like new inside, checked one problem, started another, thats my Z.

Doh... with "Spoiler Alert" I thought you were going to have an easy fix. My car has spent 14 of the last 15 years in storage... it only gets driven ~1k miles every year. Last year the fuel gauge wouldn't ever go above 1/4 tank, even when full... I pulled a sender unit from a junk yard car, but haven't had time to pull mine out yet. I'm expecting corrosion on the carbon tracks...

Im with you , yes carbon tracks messed up, But mine actually shows actual amount of gas in the tank, when the car is setting still its fine , but when moving you can see the gas sloshing around, do to the needle moving, if you set long enough it quits moving, Yea I dont spend alot of time driving either, seems like I spend all my time improving the car.

Like my late dad, used to tell me, Son your under that car more then In it.
But hey he didnt know which way to turn a wrench so what did he know
He was a Pilot for Delta for 35 years, he spent his time chasing women, But now thinking about it, he made of known something I didnt. Oh Well. But it cost him 4 marriages. And he died a lonely old man, setting at the airport watching planes take off and land...I know TMI...sorry, just the way I am
