I just bought an 82 280ZX Turbo and the guy who owned it had the factory radio switched out for an aftermarket. I noticed I'm not getting sound from the center dash speaker. The voice warning is not working. I can hear the clicking of the disk in the rear but no voice? My mechanic said that if you go with an aftermarket radio that the voice warning will not work. I know it's B.S because I had an 86 Turbo Z which I changed the radio and didnt have any issues. Can someone tell me how to fix this problem please? I think it's that the center dash speaker is not connected. But I might be wrong?

Indeed... I have an aftermarket cd deck & still have my voice warning box hooked up. I just ran the wire to the center speaker like stock. If you have the Haynes manual or FSM you can find the wire & hook it up.

I would guess that new wires were run for all speakers from the new CD player.

Remove the dash, then look for the factory wires for the center dash speaker and plug them back in. That should fix it.

Then you can install another speaker in the left door or under the dash for the CD player. Possibly hook both wires up to the center speaker if you want.
