Tailights

I was looking at a few pics and it looks like my 280ZX 2+2 has different Tail Lights than the regular 2 seater 280ZX. Were there differences, or was there a style change in the years? I like the looks of these: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/DATSU...spagenameZWDVW better than the tail lights on my 280ZX: http://photobucket.com/albums/v616/d...t=DSCF0094.jpg The auction says that they're interchangeable, but I can only find them for the right side. So I could take these and just swap them with the ones on my 280ZX 2+2? If so, does anyone have a set of these that I could purchase off them?

The link is for the early tail lights. The later ones came with lines through them. I prefer the solid ones, like in the link personally. And yes, they're completely interchangeable.

How much do you want to pay. I'm going to the pick N pull either tomorrow or tuesday. If you want me to look for a set I can pull em and mail em to you for what ever the yard charges. I'm going to be there anyways. That's unless of course someone gets back to you before I go.

If possible I was hoping I could pay under $30, but that might be wishful thinking.

I'll see what they charge when I go. I'll grab em if they're less than that. If I don't find any or they're more then you can just take some one else up on it. How's that sound?

Yea that could work. If they are more, give me a heads up on how much they run.

Just to clarify... there are 2 different versions of the 280zx:

79-81 had chrome bumpers w/ less rubber trim, the twin hood vents, and the more simple "solid tail lights."

82-83 had black & painted bumpers, the induction type hood vents, pinstripe tail lights, and the voice warning box.

there are other diffs, but those are basic ones.

Actually, I believe the official term is "NACA Hood Vents / Scoops." Introduced in 81 for racing purposes, and liked so much, that became standard on 82 - 83's. Butcha all knew that.

That ZX history page says something about supsension changes. I know there were minor changes in the brakes and front struts for all turbo and non-turbo cars in 1982-83 but it talks about the 81-82 turbo having something different and then 1983 all models had it. What are they talking about?

I think part of that would include the turbo style cv joints...

It's A Trap!

By the way jfairladyz, did you manage to find out what it would cost for those tail lights?

Just look at the license plate... pretty much explains it all.

dude that's pure metal bodywork there (no bondo ftw) and you were just looking at the welds

here it is painted

that would not my choice color, and the car really needs a dual exhaust, but it still looks great

I hate to say it, but that does look pretty good. It's still blatant bastardization though
