seen these on a z before?

alright i am kinda lookin at wheels for in the future if i ever make any money, i am kinda lookin at old school stuff, i am not a big fan of multi peice wheels but i do like these but i was wonderin if any one has seen these on any z before.

first the hardest to find
SSR Star Shark wheels <--Link
then
Work Equip 01 <--Link
and
Work Equip 03

sadly i dont think any of them ever came in 16's and 16 or 17 is what i kinda want, i know the works dont atleast i donno about the SSR but SSR's are a long shot considering the age and how many out there are gonna be any good any more.

oh well.

bunch of awsome old wheels on here

the first set are cool.....the other 2 are modular wheels-----if you reside in areas wherein snow is a factor, you do not want modular wheels.......they tend to break at the joining of the 2 modules........get solid wheelzzzzz.........good luck..........besides, the first ones are cool looking, the other 2 are funky...........oops......some of us actually LIKE modular wheels....i find the potential to fail will fail at the wrong moment.....why tempt it............

Actually it's the 4g63t that he likes. I like the looks of the last wheel, but would run different (most likelly stock) wheels in the winter.

depends on width. if your going 8 wide im think you could get away with maybe close to a -10 maybe.... close to it anyways.

no i dont hvae a real number, id stick with something safer such as the 0 or -5 dont do something you COULD regret. and you can go wider. 7 is nothing and you dont need wider in back than front unless your putting down some heavy hp. i day go 8 all around. that way you can have some good traction goo balance and 16 inch rims, 17 is a lil big for these old cars. only a few people can pull it off. and its tough.

well from most of the wheels i have been looking at i dont think i am going to find 16's, 17 would be if i were to use a modern wheel but the only one i can find are the Watanabe style 8 spokes and theyre ok but every one has them, i like having something unique.

most of these are 15's. 8 inches wide you say, no probs with rubbing on a 1" drop?

8 inches is o.k for a drop, i got 9.5" wide, and i could never lower my car without flares. dont go 14" what ever you do tho, there is crap all for really nice tires out there, well at least in the somewhat affordable range compared to 15". the rims are all about your style and how you wanna look, sorry cant help you with the stlye dept. but the second link sucks imo.

ok well i was wonderin, the car is down about 1 inch, all the spring are shot. i'm really just gonna start keepin an eye out for wheels like these but if i do them the springs will come out first any way.

when my tank is full and i go from a stop the rear end squats out and i can feel it hit the stops in the rear, it doesent hit it hard though more like a slight bump but its still kinda werid

these cars are famous for that. go on ebay and get yourself the tokico lowering kit with shocks/springs. they are usually 300 ish for the whole shabang.

2+2 is heavier, but the 2seater springs will still work. It's my cardomain page that talks about the Mercedes springs. They work great for as cheap as they are. I actually don't have them on my car, but Shady is still running them.

Much more "harsh"

They will get rid of the classic 280zx rear end "squat." They are front springs from the old school (~76-84) Mercedes 300D. You will need to cut them down to your desired ride height, but they are nice & stiff.

do the tokico and eibach springs get rid of the squat?
or do they wind up like stock springs over time?

All springs will loose their tension over time. Remember, your stock springs are over 26 years old. I even had to replace the springs in my Honda this past summer. I got 140k miles out of them in only 8 years before they needed replaced.

Any quality springs should last through the normal lifetime of 2 or 3 sets of shocks. Rod will probably have a better idea since he used to own a wheel/tire/suspension shop and has seen more springs and shocks than I ever want too...

The Mercedes springs don't have any give... its practically like riding on the frame. You have to cut several coils off to get it down to stock ride height. Ask Shady280 how his car rides.
