Thumbs up Interior upholstry kits?

Wow, I'm glad to see this place is finally back up and running. I've been really putting myself into gear working on my car with every spare chance I can get. I've mostly done a lot of little things to the engine lately, but yesterday I started and finished welding the back quarter panel, and am now getting ready to paint my z.

But for the future I'm looking to fix up the interior and was wondering if anybody has experience with any interior upholstry kits? Basically I'm looking for the whole kit including the seats, though I might just go ahead and replace the seats completely. I'm pretty sure I've seen some kits around but any suggestions would be appreciated.

the only kits ive seen are the carpet kits.. the ones that MSA and victoria britsh sells are okay but theyre not as good as the OEM ones.. ive noticed that they fade a lil bit.. as far as the rest of the interior goes id take it to a upolstery shop and get a quote on your door panels and rear panels and your seats.. thats what i did...

Hey, I'm working on completely redoing my interior too. I purchased some vinyl racing seats off ebay (very pleased), replaced steering wheel, etc, etc.... I'll put some pics up when I get done (hopefully next week or soon). But its not too hard to do yourself I'm recovering all my panels myself and headliner and whatever else. I recommend a dash cap if your dash is cracked it doesn't look too bad actually. But yea good luck with a kit you'll probably have to buy everything seperately, but I'll let you know if I see something.

Yeah, I bought a dash cap, but I haven't gotten around to installing it yet. Looks to be a pretty decent project when I get around to it.

Thanks for the input, I'll check out an upholstry shop ASAP and let ya'll know what they can do for me.

I'm loving that interior, Newb. Real clean and smooth. Looks alot like what I had planned for my interior. By the way, what brand seats are those? I was looking at a set of APC faux-leather buckets (black, of course), but they were looking too wide. I had a set of '89 Maxima buckets that I originally planned to install, however they were too wide. Seems like Zs don't like aftermarket seats ...

The seats are K2 seats I ordered from ebay. I had to make my own brackets, but it was only a matter of a few bends and drilled holes with band iron. I ended up cutting a section out of the old seat mounts so the seats would be really low (might not be necessary depending on how tall you are). But the work was definately worth it and the seats are an excellent fit and feel great. Any other questions on the interior let me know. Thanks for the comments and good luck with your z.

I got a question for you. Where did you get the chrome bezzels around the three guages in your dash? I like that.

EZDUZIT, they are just painted, make sure you use good paint though. I bought it at a hardware store and was a little unsure of how it would actually look, but it turns out it looks pretty close to real chrome. Try your paint on something else first and don't use a $.96 can it doesn't look like chrome. Good Luck

I was pondering simply redrilling holes for the aftermarket seat brackets in the support beams on the floor, but I got to thinking ... would safety / security be compromised? I plan on eventually entering my Z into Formula D within the next 2-4 years (depending on how long the project takes), so I was concerned about what the tech inspectors might think about that simple fix.

Could I get away with welding thick sheet metal onto the floor brackets, drilling holes, and adding bungs for the bolts? I want my baby to pass without questions, so I'll look into anything ...

Thanks for the help / info in advance.

I'm not sure what the regulations are; however, there are many safe ways to go about it. If your not worried about height I would bend brackets and bolt them to the sliders. If you are and have a welder I would cut out the old floor mounts and weld newer lower ones with holes tapped into where you need them. To mount the rear bolts for my seats I just simply drilled larger holes in the sliders, but that would depend on what seats you use. I would find out more about the regulations before doing anything, but good luck and keep us posted.
