This is my first post so Hi.
Now it went like this. My girlfriends mother has a 1982 280zx
its been siting in a garage for 6 years with the intereor torn apart. Now im not a big car person but that just seamd horable to me. So i fixed it.
A side note it sat undriven for 6 years and started like it was parked yesterday.
Fixing it was suprisingly easy it involved puting the dash together. Now the problem i ran into is simple and it gose like this.
The entier rear interor was torn out of the car. Now i dont know what was back there befor but i doubt it is the ugly pad that is there now. I asum some carpet and side panals and such. My question is. wear dos one get all the crap that belongs in the back.
Thanks

you can go to your local junk yard and try to find all the interior parts you need or parts that you dont have.. and if you want to get some new parts ... you can try going to www.zcarparts.com to get one of thier catalogs... just hope they have the parts in stock.. its getting harder and harder to find interior parts for our cars... i guess thats why im going custom...
well im pretty sure your carpet is missing in the rear.. you were saying you have that ugly pad in the bac. im assuming thats the foam pad that rest under the rear carpet.. well you can go the cheap rout and get some carpet from home deopt and just cutting it to fit that areal.. there are 3 panels in the rear.. one to cover the spare tire on the pass.. side. the opposite side (the hardest to find in good condition) and the rear panel that covers the tail lights... even if you can find all the panels that you need to complete your rear interior.. your gonna have to most likely repaint some pieces to match your interior or get them reupholstered.... the ones i have in my car are in pretty bad shape too and ill be making new panels to replace the onws i have now... im going to build a custom speaker box that will take the place of all 3 panels and get them to match my interior. i found it easier to just go to the junk yard to find the parts i need and use vinyel paint that matches my interior and just paint them... if you wanna see my interior you can click on the link bellow to check out my car.. my interior page is on page 4 of my site... ill have some rear shots soon.. well as soon as i make that speaker box..

Nice car.
Painting or reapolstering isnt to big a deal if it has to be dun. But its prity hard to find thous panels hu. Ill take it that its going to be zero chanse of finding them online anyware.
yes you are corect about the pad in the back. i found some carpet online, but tahts around $250 or more so the home debot just might be the answer as far as that gose.

yeah i wanna use the same vinyl material i used on my seats and door panels to redo my back... i wanna find some gppd panels i dont car what color they are just as long as they are in decent shape.. then ill just take the old crappy material thats on them and recover them with the new vinyl. the yguy that did my interor can get the material cheap.. and when watching him do my door panels.. it didnt even look that hard to put that stuff on... the only thing i cant do is the stitching.. but putting and molding hte vinyl on the panels looed easy enough for someone to do in thier garage.. just need to get some really good glue and some foam... once i start on that project ill take some pics and keep you posted on it...

Awsome dude, let me know how it turns out! It doesn't seem like recovering the panels with vinyl would be too hard, but you're right about the stitching, that would be kinda tough to reproduce. Good luck with yours, if it turns out half as good as the rest of your car has, I'm sure it'll be awsome!
