Well, I guess I dont have to make my own widebody kit now. Sure takes some pressure off I donkt want to be the first person to try their stuff though. Could someone with lots of money buy the widebody frontend and try it out first?

Our front fenders are nothing more than stamped steel. They weigh next to nothing, no inner structure. So fiberglass panels would probably weigh more. And why would you want to add weight??

Yeah thats the whole point I want to lose weight. So Im glad to know the fenders dont weigh much thanks for the info. What about the fiberglass hatch? Combined it with a plexiglass rear window and that has to do something right?

The rear hatch is still lighter than other ones I removed. When I swaped the 1 from the 80 to the 79. The 79 was lighter because of no glass, got broke out, thats why I swapped it. But they were both were not all that heavy, I lifted em by myself, I'd say under a 100 pounds. I'll weigh it for you tommorow. So the glass is the heaviest, so to remove weight do the window in something like plexi, but don't use plexi because it scratches to easily and looks like ****. My 80 was a stripped down base model. I didn't have a rear wiper or washer, no controls for one and the trim piece inside the hatch is just a flat vinyl piece, no holes or cover for the wiper motor, like I've seen on other ZX hatches. Mine is the only 1 I've seen like that. So to get rid of weight, remove the wiper arm and the motor and trace those wires and cut em out at there source. There are multiple things you can do to cover that hole too

Plus there is the whole fact that nobody has a single picture of those parts installed on a Z. Not even the freakin company The had to have had a Z on hand to make all those parts. Why the hell didn't they fit them up and take some pics? Poor fitment and/or quality maybe? If they cant do us the justice of showing us a pic of their products installed on a car then why should they be trusted with our business? Thats why I'm leery of purchasing from them.

In fact... I think this was the same pic, cuz I remember the vice grips holding it together.

Funny thing about lexan, on the stock cars, the preformed windsheilds are WAY more scratch resistant than lexan sheet. Dunno if it is coated with something, or if the heat from forming hardens it... I wouldnt to lexan on a windsheild for the street, but prolly the hatch.

Weighed my hatch with no glass tonight, On the bathroom scale, it was 19 or 20 pounds, with the wiper motor still attached and the wiper arm.

Front fender weighed in at 10 pounds. That is still very light

That is pretty light for the fender. I mean a carbon fender can be made to weigh in at around 3lbs a piece and the hatch probably around 4-5lbs (without glass). So the fenders wouldnt net you much of a weight savings. Fiberglass fenders would probably weigh 10lbs+. The hatch probably wouldnt save any weight in fiberglass either. You could make lighter weight fiberglass fenders but they would be really flimsy and delicate. Probably crack from sitting on them.
