Does anyone got keyless entry on there Z???

Found this on another forum. I was thinking the same thing, remote start, alarm, all the goodies. Can it be done?

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"i just realized today that i dont have the key to unlock the doors i thought it was the same as the ignition key, anyway.... i'm gonna get a keyless entry setup with an alarm.. prob a crime stoppers, but does anyone have an aftermarket alarm on their car... i was playin with the locks today and it seems as if the pass door only has a power lock, and the drivers doesnt so that wouldnt mean a keyless entry wont work....... i also cant get my drivers door to lock anyway it unlocks itself when i shut it.........."

Yes it can be done. The driver's door has no power lock solinoid, but one can be installed.

You can do it I also am planning on doing it in the near future. You have to convert your locks to power locks first, which a kit can be bought on ebay for cheap. After that get a complete setup for remote lock, start, alarm and whatever you want. Also my doors eventually got to the point when when I shut them they would unlock themselves.... this must have been a flaw with these cars; however, there is a small tab that moves when you open the handle- if you look over the system you will see it that needs to be bent out of the way for it to work again (I had to do it on both of mine). Good luck let us know how it goes.

ive got a clifford on mine.. with power door locks.. i wouldnt recomend getting the remote igniton unless you have an automatic.. i installed it myself and it took me about 2 to 3 hours or so... also installed a proximity sensor.. you can also install auto windows too...

Why does it matter if it is an automatic for some reason my clutch does not have to be depressed to start the car any ideas on that?

its not about having the clutch pedal depressed.. when i park my car i always put it in gear for added safety.. but if i had the auto igniton.. and i pushed the wrong button on my remote.. id prolly hit the car that would be parked in front of me..

Which Clifford do you have? Is it capable of using the other functions? (remote start, auto windows, etc...) Hell, if you've got the number I'll just do a search and save you the trouble of looking.

ive got the G4 it can do auto windows rear hatch release hood pin sensor pretty much everything even remote start.. but if you have a 5 speed i wouldnt recoment having the remote start.. this car alarm can aslo be hooked up to your turbo timer if you have a turbo.. allowing you to arm your car while the car is running then it shuts down the car after the turbos cool and arms your car...

you will have a very hard time finding someone, if at all, to install a remote start on a manual car because of the problems of leaving it in gear

I have installed keyless entry in my car before; I'm sure the door panels are somewhat similar. I have a '77 280Z. I think I got the kit from Victoria British even; or maybe JC Whitney...not sure; but it was a cheaper one. Seems to work decent though. Someone else has contacted me about my installation; and I 'paintbrushed' some pictures of what needed to be cut in order to get mine in. If anyone is interested I can post them here or email them to you personally. Good luck.
